In Pursuit of Unhurried Horizons

111111 was conceived in 2021 by a collective of travel photographers, writers, and landscape architects who rejected high-velocity sightseeing in favor of deliberate presence.

The Editorial Tenets of 111111

We do not publish checklists or sponsored listicles. Every journey represented in our publication is visited on foot, documented across seasons, and analyzed through the lenses of history, craft, and architectural quietude.

We believe travel should restore rather than extract. Our dispatches prioritize independent artisans, historic family run ryokans, traditional farmsteads, and conservation reserves.

Slow Rhythm

Favoring 10 days in one valley over rushing across four countries.

Architectural Context

Highlighting regional vernacular, stone, lime-wash, and raw timber.

Ecological Respect

Honoring regional carrying capacity and quiet wildlife sanctuaries.

The Team Behind The Journal

Our distributed team works out of San Francisco, Kyoto, and Oslo. While our dispatches span the globe, our communication remains direct and personal. For inquiries, collaborative essays, or curated route planning, you can always reach us directly via [email protected].
